Brand-name products are always an important find because the companies likely no longer exist. After the plague, many companies went out of business and all their stock was scavenged and trafficked, so having a brand-name product is considered a status thing. Some items might be kept secret, such as food or liquor, while others are typically advertised in an attempt to influence a situation (weapons). Not everyone has name-brand products, though, as most goods are either scavenged items, homemade, or cobbled together out of other materials or products.
